Mixed Berry Chia Jam

Don’t you just love the sweetness and tang of berries? I’m a big fan! But jam is not my, er… jam. Super sickly and packed with sugar I avoid it and my kids don’t even like it funnily!

But chia jam? Now that’s something I can get on board with! This recipe is ridiculously easy, is guilt free and doesn’t involve hours of cooking and reducing.

Add it to pancakes, on toast, waffles, in croissants, in cakes, on top of porridge or even in sandwiches (with nut butter you say? Okay!)

And don’t be afraid to mix up the fruit you use – I used frozen mixed berries here as I always have them in the freezer for smoothies but you can also use fresh – go with your favourite!

Mixed Berry Chia Jam

Versatile and delicious, healthy chia jam. Vegan and gluten free.

Ingredients

  • 250g frozen mixed berries
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

Warm the berries in the microwave for approximately 3 minutes or until fully defrosted.

Mash them with a fork so they are nice and liquid. Leave some chunkier bits for added texture!

Add the lemon juice, maple syrup and chia seeds.

Set aside to cool and thicken (around 15 minutes)

Store in the fridge in an airtight container.
